Ullapool Scotland

Ullapool is visited by many people each year, some make Ullapool their holiday base to explore the beautiful west coast of Scotland around Wester Ross, and Sutherland to the north. Others use Ullapool as a jumping off point to visit the Wester Isles (Outer Hebrides) and use the ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway to visit the islands of Lewis and Harris. Still others visit Ullapool for a few hours on a tour of Scotland.

Ullapool is on the north west coast of the Highlands of Scotland. The roads are good and you can easily drive over from the highland town of Inverness in approximately 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs. Take care as the roads often have sheep grazing beside the grass verges and they sometimes decide to cross the road (some even sleep at the side of the road). This along with the occasional deer running over the road means you need to be vigilant at all times when driving in the Highlands.

If you drive carefully you will enjoy the scenery and it will only take slightly longer to get to your destination. If you are from the United States then remember we drive on the left, it is easy to forget when driving out of a car park or overtaking.
